Guitars Not Guns Ohio is a completely nonprofit organization, registered as a 501(c)(3) with the state of Ohio. Currently, we serve the Central Ohio area. All of our staff is involved on a 100% volunteer basis, because they believe in the same thing:
That we can prevent gun violence, gang affiliation, drug and alcohol use, and other negative outcomes by giving at-risk youth a positive, confidence-building skill: playing the guitar.
It costs us about $1,000 to run a single 14-week class. This covers the guitars, tuners, picks, etc. for each student in the class. Students that complete the program get to keep their guitars! But, this means we always need to restock
We’ve also got a small amount of administrative expenses that keep the lights on (website, fundraising expenses, etc.). We keep these expenses to an absolute minimum so every dollar possible can be directed to students.
